These are five areas of concentration a participant will experience while attending our program:
Each participant will learn various fundamentals of game depending on their own particular skill level. Intensity of instruction is individualized based upon one's ability to comprehend and exhibits a healthy work ethic.
Participants will be encouraged to compete against oneself as well as others. Within each day and or week at an ASA camp/clinic competition is reinforced with positive feedback and instruction. Having an environment in which healthy positive competition is a key component in helping to motivate participants to achieve their individual goals.
At ASA we encourage children to become leaders and role models on and off the court. We expect and encourage each participant to exhibit good sportsmanship, while stressing the importance of showing respect for their peers, parents, teachers and coaches.
As a staff we work to build each child's self-esteem by focusing on the positive aspects of their ability. We further this by improving their weaknesses (social, physical, comprehension) while helping them apply their improvements to their game.
A Step Ahead Sports has found a successful balance of instruction, competition and play that leaves participants with a positive feeling of self achievement and enjoyment at the conclusion of camp/clinic.
